I read an article the other day that stated the FG Turbo range has overboost as part of the normal turbo operation.

Apart from a different turbo to the BA/BF it said the FG has overboost covered in the ECU for a little bit of an extra kick.

I've read it in quite a few places now and was just looking for a definition on what this meant exactly. I know you can experience overboost when messing with the intake system and the exhaust, and that overboost was a bad thing, but most of the threads have been directed at BA/BF's. I would assume because this is going outside the parameters of the ECU, is it still a problem with the FG's considering this overboost function in the ECU?

I'm only talking about completely stock here, so only from factory.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

From what I understand (and read) the overboos will allow 10% over the nominal boost for short bursts. ie. for short bursts of sideways action, red light races or even for overtaking Manoeuvres!

So overboost is part of the normal operation of the car, in short bursts of course :spoton:

its like Indy cars allow extra burst for overtaking etc but only a limited amount.

Does anyone happen to know the stock boost PSI and what it is allowed to spike to?

It supposedly will give a bit extra when the planets are aligned...as in engine and ambient temp etc. all within normal operating ranges.

10psi is supposed go be stock and if it's 10% over boost well that makes 11psi

Big deal you not notice anything. I never did.

Mine never made 10psi stock about 8-9psi on the dyno boost gauge.
