Thanks for the replies guys, and cheers for the pics Chris!

Would it be worth waiting for the airfilter specifically designed for the turbo to come out? Did they have to modify the Late model camira one at all?

As well, have you had any trouble with the auto gear box at all, in sequential mode or anything? I read some where that Ford is have some trouble with the xr8 and the auto and are in re-development not sure if true but if your car Chris is around 40Kw above standard with the auto wouldn't it have some trouble if the xr8 is?

not sure if I've read right but can anyone comment on this?

Hi mate, no the air filter was not modified at all. I believe it is the same size airbox.

I havent had any issues with the gearbox at all. Seems to work fine without any problems.

Hi Guys & Gals,

K&N filters are a MUST. They are so far advanced in both their filtering and airflow and you can even clean them and use over and over. You would be crazy not to fit them as soon as possible. They are that good the manufacturer guarantees them 10 years or 1.6 million kms, yes you heard it right.

PS: Make sure you always tell your service people not to remove or replace the filters and always check before taking re-delivery of the vehicle, you never never know.

2 questions;

How much for a K& N filter for an XR6?

Does it provide a detectable performance or fuel economy differences?

Cheers

I've seen the stock BA filter that comes with the car in aan XR6 NA, it seems to me that the stock filter is already a free flow filter. COmparing it with the previous standard falcon filters (basically carton and surrounded with a steel gauze) it seems light years ahead. I recalled that the BA filter is made in Japan and it seems to be a fibre kind of filter and size wise it's abit bigger than the EF-AU filter.

I would be interesting to see how much better the K&N is compared.
