hi guys,

this is my first post.I have a 2002 BA xr6t 5speed manual that is totally stock, my brother(mechanic) and I changed the clutch from the original to an excedy heavy duty clutch, when the car is running it will not select gears,it will select them when it is switched off, when put in to gear then started it wants to take off suggesting to me that it's not disengaging, I thought that the slave cylinder might of been no good so I bought another genuine(total rip off)slave cylinder but still done the same. then tried the old clutch plate with the new pressure plate still didn't work then tried the new clutch plate with the old pressure plate the same again. so then I tried to put the old clutch in with the genuine new slave cylinder but it still will not select any gears.I also put in a new clutch master cylinder and made sure it was bleed properly. I am really pissed off now cause this has been happening over the last month and its not fun pulling out then in the box over and over on the floor.

Any help will be muchly appreciated.

what was the spigot bearing like condition wise? also are you sure the clutch plate is in the right way? one other thing, have you tried bleeding the system?

If you have put the old clutch back in and its the right way,yet you still cant select a gear,I would say you still have air in the system. What was the reason for replacing clutch and how are you bleeding it?

the clutch plate is in the right way and have bleed it up a couple of different ways that a couple of mechanics from a ford dealer that I deal with through work, told me to do it(gravity bleeding, using a brake sucker, conventional bleeding etc)the old clutch used to slip from abuse from the previous owner(only had the car couple of months)

went to see someone else today about it he thinks that you need a special tool to bleed the csc unsure of this but he will find out for me in the next couple of days. he used to be head of service at a dealer and in counted this problem before will let you know

Ok. Well the other thing it could be is the master cylinder I suppose but I doubt it. When you were bleeding the system was it pumping out plenty of fluid coming out the bleeder? Also have you tried back bleeding it?

back bleeding uses a pressurized container of brake fluid to force the fluid through the bleeder and up to the master cylinder. This method is used when the system has been completely drained and the cups in the master cylinder aren't able to pump the fluid.

Dude...

Bleed it as much as you like but you need to answer the question as asked by Bel@Pitlane a few posts ago.

What is your CSC crush depth measurement?

If you don't know what it is then you are in all sorts of bother until you get it right.
