Turbo Not Working

Need some advice lads,

Gave my 2003 BA XR6T a few boot-fulls on the freeway this morning and the turbo was performing well, but all of a sudden it appears the turbo is no longer functioning and the vehicle struggles to go any faster than 100 km/h.

What could be the cause?

Are you sure it's the turbo?

Have you checked the engine bay to see if anythings come loose, piping has come off from anywhere etc

Maybe the e-clip came off, keeping the wastegate flapper open? Happen to me back in the day drives like a n/a, no boost

Took it for a drive to pick-up fish and chips tonight. Appears to have a little boost now and the turbo is spooling up but haven't taken it up to 100 km/h yet. The problem may still be present.

Can you tell me more about this e-clip? Where is it exactly?

I'm thinking of removing the battery lead over-night so I can eliminate any computer glitches and try another test drive tomorrow... I've heard with the battery disconnected for half an hour it re-boots the computer so it can re-learn from scratch. Should I do that?

If its really slow to boost you may be looking at a stuck open wastegate, I had this problem as the car was very slow to hit boost and was full boost very high in the rev range. Apparently this can happen.

the clamp on the top of the throttle body or IC piping off the turbo may be off.

After ten days of moping around naturally aspirated I gave it a boot full yesterday and it seems to have come good (accelerated really hard, as per normal, with tyres chirping on the changes etc),

Still booked in for a 75,000 km Nizpro service next week though, just to make sure everything is 100 percent.

Is this some form of automatic protection where the vehicle realises things are getting a little dangerous and prevents the system from failures (some sensing that prevents overloading or something)?
