I need help from all you "gurus" with a rough idle & stalling at idle problem. I have a BA turbo ute, stock as a rock & came on the forum a few month back with the same problem and it was suggested a new TPS would sort the problem. I replaced it & really shouldn't have touched a spanner on that particular day (complete clusterf**k day), anyway it didn't sort the problem and it has been suggested an Oxygen Sensor is what's needed. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Tony.

I had a similar problem, so I replaced the Coils and Plugs(Purchased off ebay Cheap but all original) which fixed the rough idle. But I later replaced the oxygen censor which completely fixed my problem and was also purchased off ebay for around $70 and was fitted at a local mechanics for $50 because it was too tight to remove.

I also did the throttle body clean which only made the car more responsive but for a 20 minute job, well worth it.

Search the forum and all the how do's or diy's and they are all on the site with pic's.

Best of luck.

Thanks Yoshi & Dave, did the coil/plugs replacement fix an idle problem or was it an acceleration problem?? Thanks, Tony.

It fixed the Idle problem, I never had a problem with accelerating. Have a look at each Plug and Coil before you buy to check for problems. How many km's has your car done?

Around 95,000Km on the clock.

With 95,000 I would be changing your plugs and coils anyway.

Thanks for your help, I've only owned it for a couple of years, use it rarely and I suppose will have pick through the faults one at a time.

Regards,

Tony.

I've had a rough idle for about 6 months now while stock. I've just gotten it tuned and still have the idle problem with new injectors.

It was quite bad the other day after giving it a little on the highway so it was suggested it could be valve springs, but I like the idea of trying a new 02 sensor first going from those ebay prices! My car has just ticked over 100,000ks - May 2007 build.
