Hi guys. Just another B) question about the mighty xrt ute. What options do you recommend? Are things like prestige sound that much better than standard? Any help on the topic would be great!

Hey mate.

I ticked every little option box but made a fatal mistake not picking the good brake package.I never really liked Fords attempt at leather but seemed to have done a good job with the BA.

I dont know were you are from but while my car was being serviced this morning,ELN Ford at the central coast has got a new T ute sitting in the lot ready for someone to go and just buy and enjoy.Might be worth a ring.

Dean is the man you want to talk to.He owns the place.

IMO prestige sound is not worth the $600 just for a 6-stacker. Get the aux audio plug-in and you can then hook a 6-stacker or MP3 player etc. Aftermarket amps and speakers have been used extensively by those chasing even better sound quality than the original, which really is quite good anyway.

Brakes are a known issue so possibly the premiums if you think you may be heavy on brakes.

If you love your passenger get her an airbag.

The sports wheel (not Momo) is really nice but pretty exxy.

IMO leather is not as nice to live in as the std seats - personal preference.

If you are going to use the ute as a ute you need the rope rail kit.

Mudspats do help in keeping the lower body free of tar splatter and stone chips.

Headlight protectors are unnecessary as the headlights are actually a stronger material than the protectors - you might go for a bonnet protector if you do a lot of country driving - it will stop some chips but you have a painful experience cleaning behind it every time you wash the car.

Sports bar is a nice touch to dress it up and likewise with scuff plates floor mats.

Ford factory alarm is a rip-off - there is already a thread running on this one.

So is the dealer favourite - paint and trim protection - IMO not worth the money but many people can see value in it.

Plenty of other options - just pick what you like and what you can afford.

After one feel of the Sports wheel (not the Momo) I had to have it. Could hold it all day and not get tired of it. Feels awsome.

I'd also get the hard lid fitted predelivery, otherwise it's a long long wait.

Get ya tinting done after delivery. Same with the paint protection. Will save heaps on it.

Got to have the hard painted tonneau cover (spoiler optional) it makes the ute look so much better. I also went for the bonnet and headlight protectors because they're a must have in the country, XR floor mats and scuff plates, MOMO shifter (auto) because I changed the interior trim to grey instead of that horrid color that you get with blueprint and the grey leather on the shifter matches quite nicely with everthing else, I kept the standard steering wheel but the other ones look great!

Pollen filter is another must have it keeps all the dust out really well, mudspats are also very handy, opinion varys on this, and it does look better without them but still looks fine with them, but it beats getting crap and stone chips up the side of your ute.

The rest depends on what you want to do with your ute, if you ride motorbikes then the motorbike tie down kit is really good, ramp and all. Visit a few dealers and see what things look like you can't always tell from the Ford website or a catalogue or ask the members here to post some pictures if they've got the option your looking at and a digital camera.

Hope this helps, your gonna love the XR6T mate. :o
