Parking Fines - Grace Period?

Ok, so I was over - yes, if even 6 mins.

Amazing that the kants are issuing fine for 6 mins over.

Someone tells me there is a grace period for parking tix - anyone know of this?

Twice in a week - stupid part is both times I was actually walking out to the car and saw it just as they put the tix on the wiper...

I questioned his time today, as the meter, my watch, and the time of issue where not all matching...

He just smiled and walked away...

Even more interesting is the street in which the tix is issued and the car was parked has signs which do not carry the correct parking notice sections. (2 poles - 1 point to the right says 3hr parking closest sign to the right pointing left says bus zone. the parking guys know this as well, and yet to have done anything about it - 3 months... interesting... Maybe my fines are being saved up to pay for a new sign to be printed...)

Got to love this bs in Sydney with fines, tix, parking, and general crap from a broke government - how about you bastards simply stop raping your residence and then you might get somewhere!!!

Anyways - anyone know if there is a grace period which really exists?

I would just ring the council and find out for sure, if it was a council worker that pinged you. Each council has thier own ideas on this. I don't think there is a grace period, more like they will tack on more if you don't pay on time.

You can put in for a review if you want. But you will need circumstances. Best one is to say you thought you locked your keys in your car. Call the NRMA if you are a member and take in the reciept from him saying he had to break into your car. This will usually get you off. Most NRMA guys will go along with it.

Wednesday through Friday 9am to 2pm is when they are out the most.

This is a true story......

I went into the city with a mate to see a lawyer about his divorce settlement,

it wasn't a happy experience for him because the lawyer tells him that his ex is taking him to the cleaners for around $350000.....

and that's on top of what shes already done to him.

Now you cant believe how pissed he was when we came back and found Brown Bomber writing ticket with meter expired by only 5 mins :ugotmail:

I said to BB 'come on mate give him a break' hes just lost $350,000.

BB just shrugs and says 'bad luck pal,Ive already started writing'

Ron just lost it!!!....I mean, he sorta' had this major meltdown right then and there.....FIVE MINUTES, FIVE F*CKING MINUTES YOU PR*CKS!!!

BB is starting to sh*t himself and writing faster, then Ron says (ILL SHOW YOU WHAT I THINK OF YOUR F*CKING PARKING METER!!!

He then gets into his 4WD, drives up on to the footpath and drives right over the meter, right in front of the both of us!

I'm standing there thinking...faaark this is gonna' be big.....Ron gets out and start rummaging around in the back of the 4WD......

I'm like.....what are you looking for mate?

BB stares with mouth open in disbelief, then takes off down the street.... as we drive off.

Not 10 mins later, cops everywhere, out of the car, handcuffs, back to the station.....bystanders must have thought we were bank robbers....

Between legal fees, bail,fines, Oh! and a new meter, that little episode cost him another $4500 and a good behaviour bond.

Just to put you in the picture, before the flamesuit comes out.....

In the months prior to his little brainsnap.

1 She used up all the credit on his visa card and he was liable for it.

2 He lost his job due to the stress of worrying about her wanting to hang out with her 'friends' (read lovers)

3 Sold the new car he had bought her and pocketed the cash.

4 He found out that she was having an affair with the guy who was best man at their wedding.

5 Last straw was coming home from work to find his house "completely stripped bare (the skank didnt even leave him a knife, fork or a canopener)

6 Took off with current lover,went interstate and changed her name so he couldnt find her, then skinned him in the divorce courts as well.

He was like a ticking bomb and unfortunately the brown bomber just flicked the switch.

I was so glad I was there to drag him off BB and no, I do not write this to make excuses for his actions,

But if youve ever seen a movie called "Falling Down"( I think Michael Douglas was in it) maybe you will understand some of what he was feeling at the time.

This was over 20yrs ago now and he still doesnt trust women, it was all pretty sad really, he is still one of my best mates and after everything we've seen each other go through during the time weve known one another, that's the way it will stay.

There is a grace period, 21 days, than you get a warning and another 21 days and than it's another $50.

Parking officers in sydney are a f*cking joke, I know it has to be enforced but let's use some common sence instead of trying to rip people off any way possible.

Was in Devenport few months ago, parked and forgot to pay, went arround the block and remembered walk back and sure thing there is something on the windscreen I'm like f*ck that was quick, look at the thing and because it's my first offense it's only a warning, and also left a devenport postcard probably due to nsw plates. It really made my day. Why can't these pricks here be more like it???

dule, the grace period of 21 days if for payment... not 'over time limit'...

I was asking in reference to period before being booked for a matter of 5 mins or so...

Is nice to head that Tas has the right idea... been hearing a lot of things about that place over the past few weeks... plus its a little island, and away from the main land...

if only I could be sure the women there where not from their grandmothers mothers daughter and grandmothers mothers son, I would prob head there tomorrow... Shame really...

Cheap housing, clean air, magnificent fishing and some of the best roads you could ever want. Just smooth corner after corner. And hardly a wally or camera to be seen. Fly down in summer, rent a nice bike and see the place in two days.

I was driving home about two years ago from Sydney CBD along Victoria Rd. Gladesville in the left lane. Came to a holt as there were a few cars parked illegally as it was a clearway zone and put my right blinker on to merge with traffic and was sitting there for no more than 30 odd seconds. The parking officer was booking the cars there and he probably thought he would try and sneak in another one in to keep up his quota as I got a parking ticket in the mail a while later. Anyway magistrate threw it out of court and gave the parking officer an earful.And so did I. As for discretion, in the past I have been a bit late in getting back to my car and been lucky and struck some reasonable parking officers who have let me off,I guess its just like highway patrol guys, some dont give an inch and some will let you off with a warning (within reason).
