I just booked my FG-T in to have the center box replaced with a 3 inch straight through resonator, mainly for noise. Can I expect a small gain in power too?

Cheers

Doubt it. It's a straight through muffler to start with.

You could dyno it before and after though and see if there is a small change.

If you do, could you get a print out of AFR's after you've fitted the straight through pipe?

I'm interested to see if it makes any difference.

I was under the impression that the 3 inch in/out is not carried through the inside of the muffler, meaning its a tad choked up?

Do you mean a reading at the tail pipe with an O2 sensor? At idle or right through the rev range? It's not going on a dyno (yet) is why I ask. Let me know and I'll do what I can.

Noise wise, it should be a bit louder at idle yeah? But more noticable when up it?

AFR's are measured at the tailpipe.

You need to get a reading with the car under load, so doing a power run on the dyno will give you that figure.

There are a few guys on here that have done the mod and may be along shortly to add their input.

From memory though, there is some more noise at idle and through the rev range.

PM LT5PLA, I think his username is. He's had it done to his car.

Hey mate...

I did this on my FG earlier in the year, and the only thing it did for me was expediate

my decision on when to do the complete exhaust upgrade!

In my opinion, sounded crap and made no diference in performance.

Honestly, I think the stock 3" exhaust sounds better..and if you want more flow and note,

leave the mufflers and just upgrade the cat. Gains to be had there, but retune required to

be safe I beleive..

Good luck with it

Thanks heaps for that mate. I might save myself 120 bucks then and add it to intercooler fund I've got going.

Cheers
