Good Afternoon all,

Got a issue with the XR, its running like a bag of sh*t at idel and similar once in drive....

Sounds like its got a really lumpy cam and lacks power once in drive...

Any ideas??

I have replaced the spark plugs, and had it on a comp which said the 6th coil had an error, so I replaced that too, but still no change.

When it runs bad I turn it off and continue to drive normally for ages, then it cuts back in again..

Thanks

A question asked many times. My BA had all the same issues and at its worst would have been eaten by the average shopping trolley.

Plugs...not sure which ones you used but they need to be gapped to 0.8mm NOT 1.1mm as many come gapped at in the box.

Aside from that mine improved one step at a time.

Fuel filter made a difference.

Throttle body clean took away the tendency to surge and hunt.

Boost solenoid clean fixed much of the lack of power.

Working through every boost and vacume hose identified many that were a little worse for wear and/or seriously loose.

Just some options though there are plenty more.

the only thing I could think of is your plugs and whether they're the right gap

mine was the same until I put in new plugs and gapped them

good luck with it mate

Re-gapped my plugs last night from 1.1 to 0.8 and the car is still running as bad...

It has to be electrical because it kind of runs fine and then starts playing up...pull over turn it off and back on and fine again...

Really has me and a few mechinicly minded friends puzzled..
