What the guys are saying is that at 5500rpm his car is hitting the rev limiter, its basically a feature put it in by ford to help with the longevity of the engine, just tell him to change gears at 5400 not 5500.

is this happening in auto mode or when changing gears manually? ford coils or aftermarket?

if the answer is auto mode and ford coils then its a bit weird, otherwise its just the rev limiter. or perhaps wrong coils?

ok whats the 710 cap?? and what can he do to fix it :) until he gets a service next week hehe. . . . .

(its an auto)

My apologies for the previous post, I was taking the piss instead of helping out..my bad.

Like what all the other guys have said its most likely the rev limiter and its around 5650rpm or there abouts, your partner didn't have a small turbo car previously did he...silvia, 180sx, skyline or anything else like that, If so that adds weight to the limiter theory, those little cars usually only start to get going around the same time as the falcon hits the rev limiter, but the falcon will pull harder down lower. You said the car was getting a service next week, the best thing to do, no matter what fault you think you have is to go for a drive with one of the mechanics before you leave the dealer, Im sure most dealers will do this. I know I used to have to go for drives with customers all the time, they can tell you yay or nay as to whether its normal or not. But youve come to the right place, plenty of cluey guys and girls on here who are willing to help...
