Looking at it from a $ angle I agree tab.....the reality is that for the next 3 years I spend nothing more than what I was going to pay for the BF F6. If it means refinancing for the residual at the end of 3 years then it wont be a big deal....I figure the market value will still be high enough to justify it.

I had a colour choice between dash and nitro...went with nitro, ZF equipped......gotta say I didnt realise just how much more advanced the ZF was over the old four cogger till I drove one in anger.

Erko.....so do I.

As exciting as the new purchase is I am pretty keen to see just how useful the BA can be with a diet.

The suspension, brake and wheel upgrades have made massive improvements already and transformed something with the handling characteristics of a sperm whale into a fairly decent package. As I have always said I felt the massive weight being carried was really the thing holding these cars back in the handling stakes.

We agree on the topic of unsprung weight and those effects are already evident. With weight to be shed in other areas, stiffening of the shell, disposal of the trusty 4 speed auto and a few other tricks I suspect it could end up being a little more competitive than a few detractors might expect.

yes I would agree. I think you should start a build thread on the BA so we can follow its progress. I will be interested to see what you do with regards to stiffening the chassis in particular. We know that they are capable in a Targa format, as Ford Factory backed BAXR6T finished top ten open class in Targa Tasmania on debut all those years ago.

A build thread with progress pics is on the cards as soon as I begin on the beast.

Initially we will be stripping it back to a bare shell and moving forward from there so there should be some interesting developments as we go.

At this stage I am of two minds as to how much can or should be sacrificed but those are details I can address as we go.

It makes me cry that you guys even compare an FPV model being the BF F6 against a standard Ford model being the FG XR6T (which is quicker hands down) why dont you do the fair test against the BF FPV F6 & the FG FPV F6,once again the FG wins hands down.Yes the BF may be more tunable for stupid amounts of power on the std turbo but all that sh*t aside and the FG is a winner in my eyes, not being biased but face it,its newer and better in almost every single way.Glad you went the FG mate enjoy every minute of it.

My initial question was angled more in terms of which of the two made a more sensible purchase from a financial angle. Considered in that light the BF F6 equated to a FAR better option. Let's be real here, second hand XR6Ts have always suffered extreme depreciation.

As for comparing....frankly (despite buying the FG F6) I still hold to the belief that the BA/BF FPVs were a far tougher looking car. The FG seems to have been softened a little too much.

Still, when all is said and done my BA will run rings around the FG when it is finished.

No doubt the BA/BF asthetically is so much more appealing than the new FG's I have a BF Force 6 my sister and brother have both brought FG XR6's and I have to say they are real nice to drive and do have so much more over the previous models in many areas. But in reality they should!! If they weren't then shame on Ford. Nevertheless, the previous FPV range look so much more appealing and hold their presence very will amongst the new "Phoons"
