Thank God (or Ken) we have a tool (internet) to defeat imbecile service managers and their "never heard of that problem" or "that's not covered by warranty" drivel.

You have to keep an eye on Service staff. I've heard stories (won't say from who) that when the XR6T's come in for service they don't treat them to nice on the test drive. This bloke told me not to take my T, when it arrives to that particular dealer (not my dealership, another ford dealership) for a service, because they wrap (rap?) the absolute F**K out of the T's and laugh about it.

I work at a dealership and I can tell you now, it aint just the Ford dealerships giving the XR6T's a hard time on test drives......

You take anything in; XR8, WRX, GT4 Celica, S2000 anything that's not normal, it will get a strapping. Find me a mechanic who hasnt given any fast car a hard time....... Every mechanic I know has and does on a regular basis.

that's why my XR6T or anything else I own doesnt go for a test drive without me.

And when the sales slow down, and they will, wont Ford complain then. They will reap what they sow.

Had a funny experience when I went to pick my car up from a service years ago. Just as I arrived so did the mechanic who was test driving my car. He didnt know me from Adam and hammered it into the parking lot and came to a screeching halt. I walked in to pick my car up and asked to speak to the mechanic who has just brought my car back. He sh*t himself when he saw the uniform underneath my tracksuit top (on way home from work) and the fact that I'm 6'2" and 106kg (which does help sometimes, but I'm a nice guy....really !!)

I have also had the unpleasant duty of booking mechanics on 'test drives' in clients cars. I also like to go back and speak to their managers about it as well. Trust me, they stop immediately.

They can test drive it on a dyno. If I see someone doing that to my baby when she arrives, he will have some explaining to do

Velvet Glove covering a Iron Fist eh  :D

Adding to that, a mate of a mate had his clubsport H thingy (don't want to get too close to him :D ) in at a well known Italian named dealership here in Perth for a service and got a pleasant call from the local plod asking him if he owned a holden, colour so and so, rego number such and such, to which he said .....mmmmmyeaysss, to which said plod stated you were seen doing doghnuts and burnouts on whatsitsname road, to which he replied, not me mate my car was at B........'s for a service, turns out the mechanics had had a bit of fun during their lunch break. When this guy fronted the service manager and demanded the mechanics involved be repremanded (I think the words were a little more colourful and stronger at the time) said manager just shrugged his shoulders and claimed ignorance........What arrogance!

By the way the mechanics had stuffed his suspension by hitting some curbs and scratched the rims, the dealer (the one with the Italian sounding name) refused to accept responsibility. AND this dealer sells Lambos

Its quite funny actually that the mechanics usually find out about problems from their customers.

Before I ordered my XR6T I looked at quite a few different cars and did a little bit of research. As you do.

What I found funny was that I usually knew more about the car I was looking at than the sales rep did. Does anyone else find this?

Same here, sales reps don't know much about the product they are selling.

This does not only apply to Ford Salesman, I had the same probem with Subaru and Expensive Daewoo salesman.

Then again, there are a few out there that do know their stuff.

Not only is the knowledge limited, but the attitude is lacking aplenty too. Waited idly for 25 minutes in the showroom only to be palmed off elsewhere when they relised I was a fleet buyer.

I AM a profesional salesman, and the attitude I've seen at some dealers is lacking, to be polite. These guys could do so much better if they gave a toss. Its not limited to Ford either. I looked at a few cars when buying this one. Best sevice I got was at a Expensive Daewoo dealer, but again, the 25 y/o sales girl knew nothing about the SS she let me test drive.

I think it's just symptomatic of today's society. It's hard enough to get good servivce at McDonalds in Sydney, let alone a car dealership.
