Posted 24/08/03 06:25 AM Share Posted 24/08/03 06:25 AM I have a few questions for those that have put mesh in the hole in the front spoiler infront of the intercooler.1) What type of mesh did you use.2) where did you get the mesh3) how was the mesh attached- the more detail the better.4) what was the approx cost of the completed job.I know that this topic has a few threads going but I believe that alot of people are interested in this mod and if the people that have perfomed it can respond here it will lay out the options and possibilties for those contemplating it. :o Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5685-mesh-for-spolier-grill/ Share on other sites

I made some very small clamps to hold it at the bottom and just bent tabs up under the black plastic that is at the top of the hole behind the plate. This was going to be a temp job but it has held in so well and is so easy to install. Also no removing of the bumper!! So $60 for the mesh some left over spraypaint, Screws left over from a sterio install, small bits of off cut aluminium and whaala. Guest 56Mainline Guests Posted 24/08/03 07:15 AM Share Posted 24/08/03 07:15 AM 1) Autotechnica: fine aluminium mesh available in black, silver, red & blue. It only comes in one size, more than sufficient for the intercooler grille.2) From Mikes Auto Parts, but is also available from Supercheap, Repco & Auto1.3) Cut the mesh to the width of the opening, height to fit as follows:Remove plastic trim at bottom between front wheels & front bumper (held by approx 15 tec screws), slide mesh up into position from underneath (no need to remove bumber, but job easier if car is jacked up, but not absolutely necessary). The mesh is anchored in place at the top by being fitted in behind the black plastic trim at top of intercooler opening (this trim just pulls straight off & fits just as easily back into place). Then tight fitted the mesh to the base of the plastic nose/bumper/air dam, where it was clamped in place using some plastic clips that I had that suited clamping in through the mesh aperture, but required a screw to be fitted from under the air dam (yes, I drilled through the plastic air dam from underneath, but you don't notice the screw heads unless you stick your head down there & look for them!). Plastic clips that might be suitable are those used by electricians, known as "Cable Clips". Available in different sizes to suit the mesh holes, bought from any hardware, K-Mart, Big W, etc. They are shaped like the letter "C", & allow a screw to pass through one end of the "C". They are purchased complete with a nail passing thru where you want to put the screw.Additional space to access the job can be made by removing the radiator/front grille & trim around the hood latch, all held in place by only approx 4 Xmas tree trim clips. Takes 60 secs to remove. All up, job took me no more than 2hrs from whoa to go....4) Cost: Mesh $30 (on special, normally approx $40), clips & screws no more than approx $5.I also put an "XR6 Turbo" badge on, cost $56.Voila! I think that's detailed enough!?!!! Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5685-mesh-for-spolier-grill/#findComment-45228 Share on other sites
