Will These Fit?

I have 20' with +42 offset on front and back, and they clear with 245/30/20 tyres.

rims are 8.5 inch wide, a 9' wide +42 would not fit rim would hit so a lower offset would be

needed as described in bugster posts

I still stand by recommendations for 40 profile tyres...the slip angle you get under hard cornering would put the tyre far too close to the arm for comfort at 8.5 +42 for mine...now at 30 profile that might be a different matter, however I dont believe anyone would call +42 an ideal fitment....and I am not trying to have a dig, but there is a good fit, and theres just fits. +42 is too far inboard for 8.5 in the front IMHO and stock there is not a lot of room. that fitment puts you 12mm closer to the arm on the inside....bugger that...I prefer to keep the stock gap on the inside up front. This is all IMHO of course

yeah that's cool mate but the top of your tire never moves if it does it means your wheels bearings are f*cked, so,that gap I have is 5mm rim to suspension arm and at hard cornering your tire move at the bottom not top.

5mm eh, I thought it would be something like that. you are right on slip angle mate, that was a silly example, your example of buggered bearings is a good one. Its just too close for comfort for me but im funny with stuff like that LOL.

EDIT: I should also add I am a little biased to offsets on the lower side for looks and also for handling as they increase the wheel track a bit which helps.

lol yeah that's cool we all got our limits and things we don't like, yeah I check the rim to guard clearance fro the ba gt 18 I had on it before and,

yeah it is in about 3mm or so very close still I think cos the 8.5 and others where 8inch, I not a race car driver either lol I tend to steer with the ass any wayz .

Quick question will these rims fit?

they are 19x8 +38 at the front and 19x9 +38 at the rear on a BA mk2 sedan?

Reason I wanna know is because the rims I want come in +20 and +40 at that size and I'm pretty sure the +40's will fit but I would prefer the lower offset for the looks.

Sorry SLider, can't answer your question, instead, I'm gonna ask another! I think I know what the 19x9.5 means...19 inch diameter and 9.5inch wide yea? But what does the +XX (in this case +20) mean? I've seen Erko talking about heaps of different + numbers...is that the profile of the tire in MM?

By the way very very hot wheels! The dish is absolutely tops!

yes, with guard work. if you want the low offset "flush" look you need to pay admission

mish, in regards to your question http://www.speedace.info/tyre_images/wheel...set_diagram.gif .this should answer it. basically the +xx is the distance in mm(xx) that the mount flange is located from the centre of the rim, so the higher the number, the further the wheel sits inside your guard, the lower the number, the further out it sits

The +XX number is the distance from the centre of the rim to the face of the hub in mm, the lower the offset the further out the rim sits in general but that also depends on the rim style and design.
