Reliability Of Modified Typhoons

Hi guys,

I have a BFII typhoon R Spec that I am doing a couple of little things to, and basically what I would like to know is just how reliable they are?

You hear about the ford turbo engines being bulletproof, and I know that the tyhoon engines are stronger than the XR6T, but I want to hear from any typhoon owners that have been running sustained, high power outputs. I would like to hear from anyone who has had a problem with their engine after increasing the power too.

I wont be going crazy with the power, but just wanted to get an idea of what it does to the reliability of the engine and parts. It was dynoed at 255rwkw with just an exhaust, and since then has a shaker for cai, and is getting a plazmaman engine piping kit. probably all I would do would be bigger injectors, and get it tuned with the flash tuner I removed from my GT.

what would be a safe power output for to be daily drven that wouldnt but undue strain on the motor?

285ATW STANDARD EXHAUST, tune injectors ect , had to upgrade the fuel pump just to be safe

I've had a BA Typhoon for over 4 years - build No 25! Its had a little over 400rwhp for all but the first 3 months of its life. It recently ticked over 100,000Km and the only smoke it makes comes from the tires! Still runs like a dream and all I do is change the oil and buy a new set of tires every year. Hope that helps answer your questions/concerns.

Yep mine been around the 350rwkws for well over a 2 years no problems beside Tyre wear and it still gets 8.6ls per 100kms on the freeway

are you serious 8.6ls per 100kms? that's better than a non-turbo XR6 gets

woggster I think most of our cars get better fuel economy then the n/a's do - more power = less effort to get em moving

Yep most car are running too rich

That seems a little too good for a 4.0 turbo
