Hi guy's,

has anybody used or heard any feedback on the Venom short or long motor's from The Horse Power Factory? I have spoken with Matt from hpf and he has given me prices for both long and short motors along with power output that they support and was just curious to know if anyone has any feedback.

Cheers

Contacted both of those and have prices also. As you do when you look at spending that kind of money you get prices and info from more than 1 or 2 places, which is what I am doing. Unfortunately im after more specific info covering why or why I shouldnt go with someone, so if anyone can give any factual feedback if you'd prefer just pm me

You'll never get accurate info on built motors mate, there's too many other factors that can make poeple like or dislike what they have.

Figure out a budget your happy to go with, research what you need for the chosen power you want.

For example, are you looking at 25plus psi from a big frame turbo, or just want something that will hold the max boost from a stock turbo?

Theres guys that have built motors and just swapped in stronger rods and been fine, then theres others that have spent 10k plus and not been happy.

I realise you will get varying opinions mate but im not going to fork out between 6-10k to someone based on my gut feeling I still want to get some feedback and opinions from people who have had one of these motors in their car.

Power and money figures are pointless until I chose who to go through to do the work. Im wanting to know if anyone has actually used these motors, not someone who was talking to someone who knows someone that has used it but someone who has actually got first hand experience with these motors. Like I said it's fine to say dont use them or to use them but tell me why? At this point all I have is the biased opinion of hpf.

I'm looking to hit about 360+ so only another 20-30rwk. Hpf have told me I will need around 18psi and that the actuator wastegate port/flapper wheel will need to be modified to hold the boost, along with a possible exhaust mod. I'm still just sifting through the options, if I have to spend a bit under 10k for the 20 or so extra rwk I dont see that as a good return for investment.

if you only want 360 just throw a set of good rods and pistons and oil pump gears in. no need to spend millions on such little power

As it's a Ba I wanted to avoid doing that and do something a bit more substantial or "bullet proof" if you will. Do it right first time. I can hit close to 350 by getting a hard tune but will increase the probability of something major going wrong.

Yep, that's all that's needed... get it assembled well and it'll hold alot more than the stock turbo can produce.

YPURV4 - why you think that for?? hpf have built some insane HP cars

You're looking at it wrong if you're only seeing 20rwkW gain for a $10k increase.

The lower end of the power gain is cheap. But when you start getting into 350-400+rwkW territory small increments will cost you more due to the strengthening and research involved in those products.

What you should be looking at is the fact you will have a very strong 360+ engine for $10k.

Also peace of mind that it is going to be able to handle a flogging.
