Exhaust Mods Ba Mkii

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to the forum and have just bought a ba mkii xr6 turbo manual and was wondering if it's possible to fit a turbo back exhaust and cold air intake without touching the ECU??

I don't want to make my car unreliable, run lean etc, etc....

I've heard that the stock fuel system was designed to limit the power of the engine.

Is this true??

Thanks for your time.

Adrian.

Cat back exhaust should be fine, as for the CAI depends on what youre talking bout RE: intercooler etc, then I would suggest a custom tune. There are far more experienced people who will give you the information you need.

My 2 cents.

cool thanks

by cold air intake I just mean the part going into the turbo

and also how much power would these two mods give?

Honestly if youre on a restricted budget, then I recommend a custom tune before any other mods. Build your parts up over time, fit them and then have it tuned again.

For the cost of the exhaust youre gonna get close to a custom tune price and see way more performance gains.

K+N panel filter $80-$100, + F6 second intake $100, should be all you need till you upgrade the intercooler setup mate.

shouldnt need a tune just for a CAI filter

Personally I would take tune over exhaust that's what I meant, tuners can get more out of the car than the restricted factory tune.

From what I've heard/read I agree....but the exhaust sounds nice as you said, guess I can build up mods over time

Yeah theres nothing like pulling away quickly, as opposed to sounding tough and dragging arse lol

You CANT fit a TURBO BACK exhaust without a tune. This will cause the turbo to overboost... You definitely need an edit if you go with a turbo back exhaust.

If you just want sound, you are better off removing your center muffler/pipes and replacing them with straight through pipes, this will give a tougher note...

You can upgrade your air intake with a K&N panel filter/ phoon intake without an edit.

But as the others said, the best way to get more power and better economy is with an edit.

You best option for performance and sound... Remove center muffler and replace with straight through pipes (approx $150) which makes it sound MUCH louder and beefier... K&N Panel filter and F6 2nd air intake (~$80 each)... Then buy a flash box, get your spark plugs regapped to .8mm and get a tune (approx $1000)... :flick_flex:

240-250rwkw and you have only spent $1300...

Cheers,
