I think I am going to get the auto because of its higher towing capacity (I'll be towing a car with it). But Id like to know, which is quicker?I figure the auto will be due to staying on boost as it changes gears. I didn't get up the manual when I drove itIve read on here some people having problems with the autos??Where should I go for bolt on stuff like exhaust, intake, maybe a flash tune?Is the 4G luxury pack worth the coin? I don't want the 19s. I pretty much only want the leather interior, the "sports appearance" and the big stereo. Or is it better to go after market with the stereo? Is it possible to fit one in the dash where the factory puts it? Or am I better off hooking up an amp??I've been looking at 6 spot Brembo's for the front end, off the Territory I think. What rims will clear the calipers? What offset and PCD do I need? (Pitch, circle, diameter. Not PussyCat Dolls)I'm sure I have forgotten something...Thanks in advanceLayton Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/53018-buying-an-fg-turbo-ute/ Share on other sites

I think the auto is quicker than the manual in street driving but there wouldn't be much in it. I don't think there are any widespread problems with the zf auto - haven't heard of anything. My personal view is that the auto is a much better match for the FG turbo - and that is coming from someone who has always driven a manual prior to getting the FG. Check out site sponsors for info. Mate I have a FG T ute and love the ZF Auto especially coming from my BA 4speed auto. I have lux pak as I did want the 19s, leather etc, There may be a cheaper way to get the options you want but I was to lazy to look into it. Horse for courses I guess , some guys like their manuals but as I do a fair amount of city driving the auto works for me.And welcome to the site. Layton , Re problem with autos. Dont know of too many problems with the ZF 6 speed auto however the old 4 speed auto can only take so much before they start slipping and/or go bang. My old BA for example was okay with a flash tune (250 rwkw) but as I got more mods and went to 310 rwkw the box was slipping badly so I got it rebuilt to take the new power. cheers Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/53018-buying-an-fg-turbo-ute/#findComment-795266 Share on other sites

The stereo is crap.Or you can try something like this. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...st&id=42269 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/53018-buying-an-fg-turbo-ute/#findComment-795303 Share on other sites
FGXR6TUTE Member 57 Member For: 16y 9m 4d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 05/01/09 03:03 AM Share Posted 05/01/09 03:03 AM I have the Lux pack but downgraded to the 18" due to appearance, load capacity and better suspension compliance. I think the leather looks miles better than the cloth trim, and that can be optioned without the Lux pack. I'm a manual fan, but the 6sp ZF is a ripper!4 pot Brembo's won't clear the 18" alloys, don't ask how I know. Easily the best 6 speed auto on the market at the moment and they can handle huge amounts of power. They are significantly quicker than the manual. A fellow club member got 12.6 down the 1/4 a few weeks back in a stock FG F6 which is way ahead of the best times I have heard in the manuals. But it really depends on your personal taste. rockafellqeinstien Member 325 Member For: 16y 9m 23d Posted 13/01/09 10:05 PM Share Posted 13/01/09 10:05 PM your on the right track.my fg ute (m6) has 30,000 km on it now and its great.you should be able to get the 4k lux pack for a little over 2 grand (buyers market). It is worth it for the leather seats and the colour screen (which you cant option seperatly on the utes). I also optioned down to 18 inch wheels for the above mentioned reasons (+cheaper tyres and you will go through them)The auto is faster and smoother but I still went for the manual which is more fun to drive and due to the cars torque you dont have to shift alot at all if you dont want (still learning that I dont have to drop to second to overtake). I have towed almost 2000kg with the ute (on a private road of course ) and I just keep it in 4th gear and have no problems (wouldnt want to take off up a steep hill though). but the auto would make regular towing a breaze.the only other thing I'd metion is not to get the mudspats because they bottom out everwhere on mine.I am going to wait untill 50 thou until I do a tune simply because it was the first of a new model and I want to make sute everything has been sorted (my driveline is a bit clunky and rattly but I dont "think" it will effect things long term) Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/53018-buying-an-fg-turbo-ute/#findComment-802420 Share on other sites
