November 27, 200817 yr #1 G day allI have just been reading the threads about tyres and I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer for me.I had a look on the federal tyres website and the specification table had a column heading LI/SS, what does this mean ? under that heading was numbers like 94w and 95v ( wear caracteristic maybe ? )My car has standard 17'' wheels with intensa tyres, 235/45/17 and its time for me to replace them. Can a wider tyre be fitted to these standard rims (safely) ?Any comment would be appreciated. DGPS thinking about 4 tyresdunlop sport maxgoodyear eagle fifalken fk452federal 595
November 27, 200817 yr #2 Author Has anyone had any experience with these tyres 'Sava Intensa' they were on my car when I baught it and im not sure how many k's they have done, but I have noticed the very edge of the tread starting to wear quite noticeably and the grip is also noticeably less now. Thus the time for new rubber. The grip until lately has been ok.
November 30, 200817 yr #3 I believe 245 fit the stock 17" rims but for some reason they are far more expensive, so most dont bother as its only likely to be a minor improvement.I think the "LI" means the laod index that the tyres are able to take (Per tyre). So when it is written 94w or 95v then the 94 and 95 mean the load index and the w or v refer to the speed rating. As an example, that someone will clarify shortly I should think, a W or V speed rated tyre means that it is able to withstand a specific top speed for a 10minute period before the tyre destructs and you crash. Say that the V rating refers to 260K/mh, then it is able to sustain this speed for only 10minutes.I should think that wikipedia.org would be able to shed more specific light.I.B.

December 14, 200817 yr #8 Sava itnensa's get chopped out a fair bit.I have Federal SS595's on my car, mate runs them on his drift car.235/45/17 are $130 or so fitted and balanced. they grip better than the factory dunlops did And they smoke well for those times leaving places that require a smokeshow ;p
