Hey folks,

Does anyone have a v14 map disk in their factory Satnav? I have v13 in my BFII turbo and am looking to buy v14, but $400 is a large investment when it may not have the streets I am particularly interested in.

Specifically there is some country towns I really would hope have been added as well as some back roads in the victorian high country.

What I'm proposing is (if you live in Melbourne) letting me pop the disk into my satnav - while you watch! - and scroll around the map to the areas I'm interested in as well as look up some addresses directly. After that I would eject the disk and give it back to you, without ever having left your driveway (or wherever we are).

Anyone willing?

One of my staff just bought a 2008 Subaru and it came with v12.

I doubt many cars will have v14 as it is only recently released.

I too am interested. does the toyota one work with ford?

Yeah it does. do you know someone who has it? They're both Denso systems (of slightly different models) and both use the same map disk.

There is a file on each disk called LOADING.KWI which includes the Denso software (I.e. firmware upgrades). My assumption is that the Denso model you have only loads the contents of the file which are relevant to itself and ignores the rest.

Note that there are no plans from Denso as yet to provide 3D graphics functionality in the Ford models (probably because the CPU is too slow), and also note that the FG Falcon has moved to using the VDO Dayton unit.

What does the factory sat nav look like in the dash? Any pics? I saw a picture of one and was just wondering where it actually fits. The factory unit plays dvds as well doesn't it?
