Stock Headunit, Aftermarket Stereo

Hi guys ive just bought a BF XR6.

And have an after market head unit which wont fit as I do not want to place it in the tissue box holder. I have after market 6" splits and tweeters, amp and was wondering if I can wire up the new speakers / sub / amp to the stock HU.

thanks much appreciated!

are the speakers going to run of the amp? you can get line level converters which convert speaker wires which are high level to an RCA output which is low level. it also has the remote wire in it and when it senses speaker signal it will turn on the amp. I had this setup in my monaro and it worked really well I`ve taken that stuff out to put in my F6 when I get around to it I`ll give you details of which speaker wire is which. the conveter cpst me $80, dont get get the cheap $20 ones or you`ll be regretting it when you can hear the electrical interference (sounds like you revs coming through the speaker.

Looks like you used the Sven4? http://peripheralelectronics.com/products.aspx?ProductID=333 I'd be interested to see how it goes in the T. It should make for a decently priced option......

As has been said, this is the easiest way to do it, allowing you to use aftermarket amps for your speakers. Do a search and you will find that a few guys have used Rockford Fosgate 360's

you just wire it up to take signal from your existing speakers then it converts that signal to an rca output.... pretty simple to wire in if you have a rough idea, and know which wires are which in the car.

The rockford fosgate 360 is the next thing you should get if you want the potential of your sound system it cost about $600 dollars. it has a 16 (I think) band graphic equaliser which you can plug your laptop in to to set up. as your head unit only has bass and treble you are very limited to what you can get out of your amps even with the cross overs, you`ll actually notice it lacks a lot of mid range frequency. its costly but you can actually use that as your line level converter. the best part of the 360 is that it takes the signal from your head unit and sets all frequencys (ie. bass and treble) to zero and then chages them to the settings you have saved in the 360 so you dont get distorted signals (when you have the stereo cranked and bass turned up) coming through unlike other graphic equalisers.

yes that's the one the wires in my picture are actually plugs, you can change between low level input high level out put and high level input and low level output. also that is american website so that $56.95 USD is $70 AUS.
