EASTLINK flyover video - Melbourne

I can't wait for this, it's gonna save me a lot of time. The video takes forever to load, so just leave it in the background for 20 mins then watch it.

Imagine driving down this flat stick, there's so many perfect straights it's gonna be tempting! lol

I wish our pig-headed government would do something similar...instead of the current trend with putting friggin tunnels everywhere that will still be congested when there's nowhere to go at either bloody end

When does it open?

My in-laws live in Rye, we are in Bundoora. I will be able to get on the Eastern Freeway at Bulleen Rd, and virtually be on freeway the entire trip when this road opens.

Tab I think that Queensland roads are the best in Australia! Nice wide open roads, and to think that Victoria fund QLD for road development, you think they would take a leaf out of their book!

Maybe it's just a case of the grass being greener over the other side of the fence, but I think our roads are fairly crap in comparison. The main one that tourists see is the M1 between Gold Coast and Brisbane which is fantastic....70-odd km of eight lane goodness....other than that though there's nothing special going on.

Eastlink will be superb. Best thing is that all the tight-arses stay off the tollways, so you're less likely to be struck by a stray wheel that's fallen off an XF/VB/Datsun/etc.
