Painting Wheels

My BA MK11 F6 rims are suffering from some terrible gutter rash from the previous owner, and I was wandering if anyone knew where to get them machined, also I want to get them painted black if anyone knows where to get that done proffessionally?

just look in the phonebook under wheels or wheel repairs mate.

pretty much they just put your wheel on a lathe and turn the gutter rash off them

if your gonna get em painted don't bother paying to get them machined or any of that sh*t just go see your local panel/paint shop get them to fill and prime the gutter marks and paint them.

cheers fellas what`s your opinion on choosing either powdercoating or 2-pak paint?

I wouldnt put bog on my wheels lol,they have to be balanced and an even surface is much better than a bogged one lol

do you think it'll really make that big of a difference? they use the counterweights to get balance anyways and if theres a gutter scratch the surface is uneven anyways. 2pac will do the job just fine powdercoating is stronger, but if you do touch another gutter you'll scratch it anyway.

I have just had some BF GT rims repaired.

It will depend on where on the rim the damage is. If it is only on the outer lip, and there is enough material to turn the entire circumference down then they will do that on the lathe. If the damage is deep, or on an area with not enough meat on it - they will weld the gap to fill it and then turn down. If done properly, you would not know it has been done.

Get any dings, out of round bashed true at the same time.

As for paint vs powder coat, the guy who repaired mine suggested that you do not powdercoat wheels, as it can weaken them in the process, and they will bend easier.

Also, I decided not to have clear coat on the metal lip - it is so easy for this part to be marked when putting wheels on (or curbs) and easier to repair if left alone. It will mean that you would have to mask the metal bits before painting.

you best bet is to take them to a specialist wheel repair company. you would be amazed at some of the wheels that people have taken to panel shops or back yarders that then bring them to us to be fixed. you can't cut corners in the machining and straightening deparment of the repair. you will be thanking yourself you may of payed the bit extra when the wheels don't collpase when your doind 110 cause someone had put to much heat into them or something.

Cheers blokes lots of help. I found a place that`ll machine them and paint 2-pak for about $180 a wheel. Also they are getting completely painted I don`t reckon it look good with machined lip unless its a deep dish. plus all black makes the wheels look bigger, harder to tell where tyre starts and stops, I think it works well on the VE GTS ..... and any thing that makes a Expensive Daewoo look good would have to make a ford look hot as
