Just wondering if anyone has used the CAPA tuner box, and reloaded the factory load?

If so is there any way to tell that it was reloaded?

ie- upload date/time etc?

Thinking of going and taking a further look into one of these boxes, however would switch back to factory load before service time if I did... therefore wondering if there is a way to tell it had been flashed and then reloaded....

Most flash's leave an uploaded time/date stamp dont they?

Don't know about date/time but when they service cars they do updates, so what happens is you flash your pcm, then flash back to original for a service, but then when u reflash the original wont match next time, I think.

I've heard through someone who knows someone at Fraud, and they cannot tell at all, provided you do it properly.

The only way they can catch you out, is if you put the factory tune back on, and it goes in for a service - and they flash on a NEWER factory tune.

If you then go and put your say 10 psi tune back on... drive around for a while, put it back to your (now old) factory tune, then ford can tell since you have an older "factory" tune than the one they last put on.

errrrhhhh, Ford can tell how many times your PCM has been recalibrated. If they have only done one flash update on your PCM that is recorded and your PCM reads that it has been reflashed 10 times, well it's pretty obvious what you have been doing.

As Tab said.

The point is, if you have a failure somewhere in the engine or drivetrain and you want them to fix it, they will check the PCM and if it's been tampered with they will void the warranty claim.

Thanks all - just as I thought, hence the question!

Was thinking that if it was not going to have a upload or time stamp type records, that one 'could' copy the latest upload from the service dept following each service, then upload the tuned flash, and before heading back into service dept tune the last service upload back again...

Little bit of stuffing around but might have been an idea...

As thought not going to be the case...

Was something the sales guys mentioned to me on the quiet... chip after service and swap chip back before the next service... Funny ba57ards....

Could a swap (2x chip) type mod be done without being traced?

Your Capa box will only store the factory tune once, it will only re-load it after the box has been reset by a tuner (max 5 times)

What do you mean by "chip"? :leghump:

I called up Capa & C&V to ask this question and they both said as long as you put it back to factory tune they can't tell. I have a BF Mk2 Capa told me that when you have put on the factory tune then at the service they flash it with an up date when you reload it, it will take on the new tune that is why it takes a bit longer. As it is not the factory tune that is locked in & cleared for your 5 go's it is VIN locked to your vehicle

I highly doubt it seeing as they can't actually read the PCM at the dealership.
