What tools are actually required to undertake the replacement of BA valve springs.

Reason I ask is, ive found a reputable mechanic who has just started up his own workshop. He previously worked at a place where he did quite a few valve spring replacements. So he is confident on doing it, but he just dosnt have the tools.

Im aware that Atomic make a valve spring removal tool but im just wondering if there are any other specialized tools that are required to undertake this job?

Ive just bought myself a set of Atomic springs and finding it hard to source a mechanic who can do the job.....

the only other thing you will need is a magnet on a stick to gather any dropped collets.

theres nothing to it really,I even made my own valve spring compressor from some scraps I had lying around

Yeah it sounds like a good thing. But are there any other specialized tools required to carry out the job?

Do you have to fill the cylinders with compressed air to stop the valves falling in?

Goes in tomorrow to a different mechanic to get the Atomic springs fitted. They have done plenty b4. Quoted around $550ish in labour. Fingers crossed......

good idea, atomic are flogging someone's else's springs and someone elses tools, they are taking up the unigip flag as "rape the gravy train" while it still floats, a great australian tradition

Well it all comes down to $$$. The Atomic supplied ones were a lot cheaper then the original desiginers price.
