Hey guys...

For some reason my T has got a terrible flat spot after 4000rpm, where I lose all power, and its really annoying. If I floor it (auto) it just dies after 4000rpm, and then shunts into the next gear and I get heaps of power again...

Is this a sign of anything in particular? How do I fix this?

checked all the hoses? maybe a fuel pump issue? Does it make any sounds when it hits the flat spot?

Yeah checked all the hoses recently. Will check again, but pretty sure they're all ok.

No noises... Just no power.

Hmmm, a bit strange... Take it to a dealership if its standard and if you have a decent service dept they should be able to see if there are any errors

Cooler hoses can't really be squashed or sucked in, but the one from airbox to crossover can, happened to me, had the smaller NA snorkel installed by accident, that should be pretty easy to notice.

Old filters wouldn't create a sudden loss of power unless they have fallen apart and are blocking the hoses.

May be the fuel pump - I just had the same issue at high revs droppoing out and stopping.

If I cooled it down it'd run ok until I hit the throttle again - see my post in FPV performance Inc: RSpec-Breakdown , Theres more detail on what happened and some follow up from Ford on the fuel pumps.

hope that helps sort it out

Have a BF mk2 XR6T 6sp man 20k & lately when it is cold it is fine as soon as it warms up it is shaking all over the joint & feel like a miss. The good chaps at my local dealership have replaced coils, spark plugs & the newest software but there computer is not working at the moment to do any tests.

When it is warm & I give it some between 3500-5200 it surges & just doesn't feel right then when I pull up it idles really rough.

I picked it up from the dealship cold & I thought yes they have fixed when but the engine warmed up I give it a bit then it was idling rough all the time agian.

When I put on the A/C at idle it makes a knocking nice my heart dropped the first time I heard it till I workrd out that it goes away when turning of the A/C.

I have a feeling this is my problem & I think ford now about it as I went in this morning to find out the next move & booked in tomorrow to check fuel flow rate.

I hope this is it ! Lots of people say rough idle is just XR6T mine has been silky smooth till now....

far out, more and more of these similar problems, there must have been a big batch of fuel pumps that were bad - if that's the problem that is...

Yours and antigravity both sound like the same symptoms as what I had, esp when youve been driving for a while, the pump gets hot, then loses power under load, but normal driving seems ok.

When the car is cold, it behaves normally, until it gets hot agin, then the fuel pumps struggles, engine staved of fuel and the car goes into limp mode. After restart, it goes ok for a while...

Ford know there is a problem with these pumps in BF MkII's, and will change them under warranty. They need to confirm that's the problem, it's then a relatively easy fix - it's just a matter of finding a fuel pump - they're short on stock now.

Hope you both find a solution easily enough.
