Well, as requested, I am starting this thread to set up a drive to the South Coast.

ITS ON!!! Sunday 17th August.

Official meet point is 9:00am at Service centre, Princes Highway North Wollongong. At the bottom of Mt Ousley freeway, veer left on to Old Mt Ousley Road. The service centre is directly ahead. Cant miss it. There is an Ampol, Maccas, Chilis, Burger King etc. Lots of parking. Hopefully we can leave there by 9:20am.

Planned route will be south through Wollongong to Albion Park, where we detour up Macquarie Pass. We can then stop at the famous Robertson Pie shop for some morning snacks. There is plenty of car parking there and its quite a popular sunday hangout for motorbikes etc.

From there we will take the tourist road along the top of the mountain to Jamberoo Pass. Jamberoo Pass is a bit of a narrow goat track, but it will take us back down to Jamberoo and Kiama. Kiama bypass and the great set of corners between Kiama and Gerringong, and then the Princes Highway to Berry. From Berry we detour over the tourist road to Kangaroo Valley, where we can stop for Lunch.

From here, we will head up the mountain to Fitzroy Falls, and then across the southern highlands through Bowral / Mittagong to the Hume Highway. This will then take everyone back in to Campbelltown/ Liverpool, and I hope you all know the way home from there. B)

I will turn off the freeway and head back to the 'gong on the Picton Road.

Expected travel times:

Sutherland to Wollongong via F6 Freeway - 40 minutes

Wollongong Robbo Pie Shop - 1 hour

Pie Shop to Berry - 1- 1.5 hours

Berry to Kangaroo Valley - 30 - 45 minutes

Kangaroo Valley to Freeway - 1 hour

I will have maps of the route photocopied, with the route and all permanent speed cameras marked (theres 3 near Berry now, plus the one at the bottom of Mt Ousley, wollongong)

Put me down. There's a back route from Berry up to Kangaroo Valley that you might consider - Kangaroo Valley Rd I think it's called. Quite narrow all bitumen not much traffic, lots of twisties etc and breathtaking views.

Yep, know that one too Falchoon. Bit of a goat track in places (on the Berry side), but your right about the views. Just have to watch out for stone chips on that one. Cro wouldnt be happy if we flicked rocks at him!

Its actually advertised as a tourist road, so the traffic on weekends is usually painfully slow. I usually ride the bike down that was on weekends, so I will do some recon on road conditions as we get closer.

Have you been since they finished the roadworks on Cambewarra mountain (bomaderry - KValley)? The new corners on the way up are sensational!
