A couple of things to consider with Tornado v Typhoon.

What is your tax situation as a ute will not attract FBT but a sedan will.

Secondly, the ute will cost you for example $5000 less to buy as has been said, BUT usually will sell for more when you upgrade. I trade up every 2-3 years and it only costs about $10 - $12K each time.
