Hi Craig,

It sure does work well. The kit comprises of a pump, tank, electronic controller and the injector nozzle. Basically the kit squirts a 50/50 mix of water & methanol into the intake (before the throttle body) this cools the intake charge as well as the exhaust gases, increasing the effective octane ron rating of your fuel to well over 100, meaning more timing and/or boost can be run. This also elminates detonation, meaning you have a lot less chance of ping, no matter what the conditions are.

I have actually read about people removing their intercooler completely after fitting the water meth kit as in some circumstances, it's just not needed because of the cooling affects of the water & methanol mix.

The only cons I can think of is keeping an eye on the level of water/meth mix so you don't run out. There can also be a slight delay whilst the lines prime if you have been driving off boost for quite a while. The fitment of a check valve elminiates this though.

Keep in mind that the kit is only spraying water meth when you're on boost and at your preset injection settings. Mine is currently set to start spraying at 5 psi, so driving around town you aren't using any.

The altertantive to this is to use expensive high octane race fuels which is OK if you have access to that type of thing and only use it for drag racing.

Look at this thread for a few pics of my install: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...c=35425&hl=

Thanks 2fardown for enlightening me. I am new here and it can be hard to get your head around how many ways there are to skin that cat I mentioned! :surrenderwave: I will go and have a look at the install link.

So when the time comes to mod, if I didn't want to go that way, another way around it might be to spend more money on a top of the line plenum/intercooler kit to produce the same cooler charge without the pump, etc of the meth/water injector? I'm thinking something like a Process West or a Plazmaman set up may produce similar results to the smaller Monza ( wog) cooler with meth/water injection?

I'm just not sure about this mod at the moment. You inject this stuff so that you can stretch the engine by uping boost and playing with the timing. I like the idea of keeping the boost low and helping the thing breathe. I am looking at longevity when I say that and am thinking out loud so please don't be offended. Just trying to put together what might be best for me.

That's fine Craig. Keep in mind that there is a Nizpro kit equipped XR6 in town that runs a bit more boost and has 5 more rwkw than me... So you be the judge.

A larger plenum will also affect your off-boost driveability, though the kit does look affective.

I ran the car at the strip tonight with the new tune and managed an 11.7 @ 117 mph. I'm happy as. Big thanks to blueboost for an awesome tune.

Was a heap of XR6 turbo's out. A mate with exactly the same mods except an Xforce exhaust ran 11.70 @ 120 Mph...

For the little money I've spent I couldn't be happier.

We used to run with water/meth injection BEFOR cars had large front mount intercoolers... Back in the 80s most factory turbo car didnt even have small intercoolers, they had nothing, so we used water/meth as intercooling... ( and heaps of retarded timing and low low comp pistons )

Well done Bryce!

Having witnessed the early days of your modding journey it is good to see where it has taken you.

11.7 is an impressive time and, to put it into perspective, most GMH owners would have had to spend 4 to 5 times as much to get the performance you have now.
