Quiet Tyres

I am currently running Falken Ziex 245/35/19 front and rear ( all but empty ). While they have lasted me 30 000k's they would have to be the loudest tyres I have experienced. On hotmix they are no worries but as soon as you hit the larger 10mm bitumen it is falken ridiculous!!

Now that it is time to replace, can anyone recommend a suitable tyre?

I dont want to spend more than $500 a corner.

Some mods on the way soon as well. Looking towards 300kw mark.

So something quiet with decent traction would be nice.

I'm currently running the Dunlop Sport Maxx and experience the same type of noise on concrete and coarse bitumen. I've been told the Goodyear F1 GD03 and Toyo Proxes TR1 are both good in terms of grip and reasonably quiet. You should be able to pick them up for under $400.

I've also heard the new Falken 452 are ok as well but also not first hand, sorry.

Quite tyres, now that is Michelin's domain.

There is no mainstream manufacturer that makes quieter performance tyres.

In that price range, go the Pilot Preceda 2's. Also will perform 10x better than the Falkens and last about the same.

Currently running the Toyo Proxes. I have found them to be relatively quiet and have great grip in all conditions. Under $300 a corner for those ones. Great value tyre in my opinion.

What about Maxxis MA-Z1 ?

Does anyone here have them? Please advise what you think as I'm thinking of getting them.

Cost about $199 per corner for 17". There has been tyre tests done recently on these and have been rated highly and are a very quite tyre.

The Maxxis's were quite noisy when I rode in a car with them on a hwy trip. Reminded me of my old Pirelli P Zero Nero's.

I have the maxxis tyres ( MA-Z1)and have had them on for about 25,000 K's (about 2/3rd worn)and are really happy with them.

They are not as good as the premium brands ( I have been in other members cars)but in my opinion they are great value for money and perform better than ther original Dunlops.

I'm running edit only with approx 260RWKW.

I'm about halfway through my Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's (in 18") and am happy with the noise levels, and I am someone who is quite fussy when it comes to tyre noise.

Quieter than any tyre I have used are the Michelin Pilot Preceda 2 - great grip wet or dry, excellent turn-in to corners; a quality tyre at a good price too. My 235/40/18s were $340 a corner.
