Fuel pump line had blown of fuel pump (my tuner had installed my new pump 2-3 wekks ago (not happy Jan)

Just wondering how this could happen?

I changed my fuel pump the other day, and used Gates Submersible fuel line. That hose is quite think and doesn't really flex that much. I had to measure the length required by measuring the fuel tank, cutting hose, trial fitting of pump, etc, etc, etc, until when fitted the pump assembly only had about 10mm of movement from being in the tank to compressed with the screws done up. I did use quality hose clamps as well.

I guess my point is that the fuel line is wedged in so tight, it should really have sufficient movement to blow off I would think? By wedged, I mean once you compress the pump into the tank and take up the slack there must already be some serious force on the line to stay on the fitting.

Any thoughts?

Mate alot of people out there are still not using submersible fuel hose. They are simply puting efi hose submersedd in fuel. This hose cannot handle it some last a year some last 2 weeks or even two days. the hose goes floppy and balloons so under pressure it blows of with ease

The recent reports of hose blow off are from guys who had their pumps installed by their tuner. Surely a suitably qualified tuner knows that only Gates has worked this far, and the others (whilst saying "submersible") are not up to the task?

After reading back through my post, I have come to realise that I appear to have blamed my tuner.

Just so people dont think my tuner goofed up there are a couple of things I should add.

1/ y tuner fitted this pump for me for free (while he was on his lunch brake)

2/ He only used the materials that I supplied. (now discovered it was not proper sumersable hose) So I better pull it out again

So to summerize (sh*t happens) but shes going like a trooper again.

Cheers
