Pedders Front Lower Control Arm Bushes

I had the both sets of bushes in the front lower control arms replaced with the red Pedders nolathane, or whatever it's called, and the difference is very noticable, especially for cornering and hard braking. There is much better feedback through the steering wheel and the car rides flatter and turns in much more crisply. I also have pedders sports springs and shocks and front and rear whiteline swaybars, but the bushes are definately 'The Icing on the Cake". Well worth while . I bought them and had ford put them in while they fixed up my synchros but Pedders charge around $500 to supply and fit all 4

The standard bushes are the same across the whole BA range apparently , they are oil filled for comfort but if you hit the brakes hard (especially with Brembos) in a 1.8 ton car at over 160 then the whole front end set up can move backwards and forwards about an inch as the bushes compress. I have noticed that the car doesn't appear to rock on its chassi anymore with a good hard high speed stop. Well worth it IMHO

Gotta ask, how happy were you with the set up prior to fitting the bushes?

I have a similar set up (ie pedders springs, white line sway bar) on std shocks and while I reckon its ok, its not razor sharp.

I'm therefore thinking, do I look at doing the bushes or will changing the shocks make a big improvement (given they are the factory ones and now have 100,000 km's on em')?

My Typhoon 013 in Qld has the same set up as you have and at 35,000 it would sit flat in a corner but bounch up and down a bit in a spongy way. When I went to Pedders I intended to replace the shocks and springs but the car was new and the Pedders guy said leave the factory shocks in there. Changed them to Sports Riders at 35000 klm and now it handles well and the bouncing has gone. If you can remember the initial improvement the front whiteline sway bar gave your car then the bushes improve it yet again to the same noticable degree. There is a big difference in road feel and turn in, much sharper, as though the vaugeness is gone.

Just had a suspension upgrade by Chris at In-Line Steering in Queanbeyan, NSW. Replaced the John Bowe signature springs with King springs, new Bilstein shocks replacing standard Ford units, and a bigger front whiteline sway bar up from 27 to 30mm, (rear already upgraded to 22mm). What a significant difference it has made to the overall performance of the car especially when it is worked on by someone who knows his business and cares about his customers.

I'm just using mine as a daily driver. dumped it out to make it look nice, then tightened up the front with the sway bar. not looing for a track star, just trying to get rid of that 'tug boat on the high sea's' feeling...

any suggestions for shock replacements that don't cost the earth?

Understand where you're coming from but my T is my daily driver and it ain't headed for the strip. Had the good fortune of a test drive in a Chris (In-Line Steering) modified Phoon and the rest is history as they say.
