Paint Touch Up

Hi, the ford dealer here has a guy from Canberra that touches up the stone chips etc. my T is 12 months old and has chips and the underneath of the front spoiler is paint free. what do you ppl do to keep the car up to scratch [pun intended]

Hey 245T,

I got a spray can made up at Autobarn, plus a can of touch up paint. The colours are an exact match for the Rapid but don't count on it being to close for a metallic paint.

I use the spray for most but the can with a tiny art brush for stone chips.

I had a huge chip taken out of the grill surround a few weeks ago, by a truck that lost a mudflap. It had a hole the size of a 5cent piece in the surround. Filled it up with stop putty, over a few days so it would dry/shrink properly, then some undercoat from a spray can, then about 7 coats of top coat with the can from Autobarn. You wouldn't be able to pick it, and all cost me about $30 in total including the wet/dry paper.

So all the small stuff you can do yourself, but if you've got a heap then probably best to get the whole lot done at once professionally.

How about the touch up which comes withthe caroryou buy from ford igot one in the fridge did 1 coat and th colour isnt a good match it comes dark but this is only after 1 really thin coat and a wax with some love put into the rubbing method,
