I reckon I could count on one hand the very few times that I've been dazzled by fog lights. More often get dazzled by incorrectly aligned headlights.

Sorry guy's but the Tosser element is creeping into the BA XR6 fraternaty, at first very few of us put thier fog lights on at all, but now at the slightest hint of drizzle or fading light every second xr I see is copying the SS, and clubbies by putting these things on for no other reason than "look at me" value. If they need fog lights to get looks, good luck to them but the BA is a step ahead and gets plenty of attention with the tosser lights off, BTW they are as good as useless in fog anyway

I leave them on at night, and when going on cruises.

I haven't had any one let me know one way or another that it bothers them...

I even see most of the HWP with them on, so if they can do it why can't I?

Hmmmm.

Can't say that I've ever been dazzled by oncoming traffic with PROPER foglights. (As are the BA lights)

Why? Because a proper foglight is designed to minimise glare and reflection.

Can't really see that the foggies are much use in high speed (100kph) highway use iether as their penetration is probably only 20% of high beam. Suppose they might help you identify what you are about to run over!

Of more concern to is the increased use (By brainless types IMO) of "fog" (read high intensity) tail lights. Far more distracting to drive behind unless in very thick fog.

As far as the police enforcing the use of "foglights" it's a total w@nk and revenue collecting exercise. The definitive item would be "high intensity" as in high beam or driving lights. (Of which the BA foggies ain't)

There.

My little winge for today.

I have a set fitted my XR6 ute - they are Hella's and are directioned towards the ground. I drive with them on all day just with the parkers on in the headlights, this way people can see me, but dont have the headlight shining in their eyes. Yes foglamps that are poorly alligned can be blinding, but if they are pointed towards the ground you shouldnt have any complaints.

Btw I dont drive with them on at night, as they are more likely to dazzle other peoples eyes in the dark!

OK heres my 2c worth. The fog lights fitted to your car are not to improve your visibility in foggy conditions. They are so OTHER cars can see your car - that's why some cars also have a fog light on the rear. (ie hyundai excel )

They are situated low to the ground so the light doesnt reflect off the fog and reduce the dirvers visibility. ie visibility is REDUCED when u use your highbeams in fog.

The fact that someone said earlier in this thread that they are useless in fog is a bit of an incorrect statement.

I'd always wondered about that, Ford_Power, thanks for the explanation.
