Hardly seems like an independant test to me. Personally, I don't even rate the VE along side the BMW 335i coupe, how exactly is any VE (HSV included) better? Yes, they're cheaper, but it is arguable whether they are better value. The first twin turbo BMW six (a car bound to be developed around the world) trumped by a repackaged commodore (same engine, manual gearbox amoung numerous other things I'm sure). Absolute load of crap. And as for the judge's, anyone see the car show a while back? Had some fat bastard (motoring journalist, don't remember his name) driving a phoon around phillip island, then John Bowe lapped on worn out tyres 5 seconds quicker. Same day, same car. What on earth makes these clowns qualified to judge anything? Posted 27/01/07 05:30 AM Share Posted 27/01/07 05:30 AM I wouldn't be too quick to question why Expensive Daewoo won over BMW. For the money they are a great performance car, you certainly get a lot of performance for very little $$$. The BMW on the other hand is also a great performance car, but you pay through the nose for it. The comparison you have given is a car which you can get into for around the $50,000 mark compared to a car which costs $110,000, plus if you look at the warranty of the BMW it's only 2 years. Also Expensive Daewoo have been knocked back from entering the COTY awards before. The VZ Late model camira was knocked back because it was essentially the same car as the VY. As the point was made, the VE is the next in line of the powerful family sedans, after they supposedly spent 1.2billon on it you'd hope it would be up there.
