Adaptive Learning

hi

was told today about the adaptive learning in my bf six speed auto that if once a week shift from standard mode to perf mode ten times in a row then the gear box will perform better even in standard mode. Does any one know if this is true or anyone tryed it?

Your are correct about the adaptive learning and as part of that learning process the computer will cound how often you do switch between the different modes. Ive always left it in PERF mode and only use normal mode for freeways which im rarely on. Theres been a few topics like this about the ZF box. Something about it has 0-200 differnt settings to apply to the driver. E.g 200 might be for the driver who floors it around a race track and then lesser numbers for other quiter drivers.

How long do you have to drive before gearbox "learns' it .Eg ,if I drive home from work in granny mode will the next time I floor it, will it be sluggish .Do you have to drive in a certain style for weeks or days before adaptive learning takes place.

I think the learning is over some time, as in several thousand K's but it has the ability to respond to your driving input, such as sudden squirts.
