Do I need to cancel the rego and hand in my plates?

I just transferred a QLD car to my name last month while I'm in NSW. All the forms are online at www.transport.qld.gov.au. There is a transfer of ownership form there you can print out. Once signed by both parties the buyer can send in to transfer ownership to their name. If the buyer has never had a QLD drivers license then they will also have to fill in a new client request form with 100 points of ID signed by a JP!!! Rego would transfer to the new owner and plates their responsibility to then convert to VIC rego/plates etc. Not sure but you may also be able to apply for a credit on the unused QLD rego, give em a call.

There's probably a notice of disposal form also like we have in NSW that you can send in once sold. :spoton:

Rang QLD transport and they said the best option is to de regester the ute and hand in the plates......buyer from Vic can get a permit to drive it to his place in Vic and then register in Vic....then I dont do a cert apparantly because it was totally de register from Qld

Its cheaper to get it sent on a truck, last car I sent from QLD to VIC was $400 odd, then you just degister it, the truck picks it up and delivers it to the buyer at the other end. Sold unregistered, no responcibility on your part.
