I thought if you had a different cooler, plenium, exhaust...etc they would have told you to get lost straight away! very good of them to do that for you though. top stuff.I hope its made it all better, I could really imagine just how pissed off you would be just reading your story

It actually feels better now at factory tune than it did with the generic 8psi - the plenum and intercooler helps it feel more perky even at factory boost. Now I just have to wait for the tuner to have another spot for me. I have to say respect to the guys at John Andrew Ford here in NZ they never questioned the modifications and replaced the ECU no arguments even though it was outside of its warranty period. I was surprised after some of the stories I've read on here about service.

Now this you would think isnt much of a problem but now my car has another cars VIN and chassis number in it and the flash tuner says uh-uh you cant flash that car. Even though I flashed it back to stock before removing the ECU, Robin at Torque Performance said the flash tuner needs to be sent back to Aus to unlock as it is VIN locked to my old ECU. Now I know this has been done a million times but I dont understand why the flash tuner isnt working, it flashed the old ECU back to stock then was replaced the new ECU should look like a new car and not need to be unlocked first. Apparently there is no software to wipe the new ECU and add my old ECU details manually. This is driving me nuts

apache_dj Member 145 Member For: 21y 4m 11d Location: Auckland NZ Posted 16/11/06 01:37 AM Author Posted 16/11/06 01:37 AM I called CAPA and they said the guy has the software to unlock the flash unit so I call the tuner and he tells me that sometimes the box locks in a different way and the only way to unlock is to send it back to CAPA, he says hes sent 2 last week and that this is really common. Any of the tuners out there heard of this where the car is succesfully flashed back to stock but the box is still locked to the cars VIN and this cant be unlocked. I dont think he's telling porkies it's just I've never heard of this problem - how could you buy a second hand flasher if it may not work? Anyone bought one to find it doesnt go and have to get it reset?
apache_dj Member 145 Member For: 21y 4m 11d Location: Auckland NZ Posted 22/11/06 11:40 PM Author Posted 22/11/06 11:40 PM flash tuner is back from its holiday in Aussie having been reflashed by CAPA back to factory and NERO goes into Torque Performance on Monday morning for tuning. I wonder whats its all going to cost after these last couple of weeks - mmmmm I bought this car for the easy 300RWKW. I guess I was just unlucky. let see if it gives me 300RWKW.
apache_dj Member 145 Member For: 21y 4m 11d Location: Auckland NZ Posted 29/11/06 05:25 AM Author Posted 29/11/06 05:25 AM well finally 292 RWKW so close you can taste it but not quite 300. Started running out of fuel up top so am playing it safe running 12 psi. the awesome thing is the nearly 1100 Nm torque wich peaks at just over 3500 rpm. Walbro pump will sort out fuel, and I'm going to make up a NIZPRO inspired airbox to try to keep things cooler as the big pod filter is just sitting there where the battery was sucking in hot air. I'll try to post the dyno chart when I get a chance to scan it.
