Geez...be careful. You should NEVER let a car with EFI run out of fuel. Very risky.

The km until empty thing is an indicator. It only works as an estimate, and is based on current recent fuel consumption average (ie if you are going slow, it increases and so on). And it assumes the car is on a level surface, and any incline/decline means you rfuel guage says you have more or less fuel than you do, and that stuffs up the calculation it does.

Fuel injection nozzles are tiny. they clog *very* easily. They are also expensive to replace. And often require a whole new set to be bought to ensure equal fuel to each cylinder. Run your fuel low (to the bottom) and your fuel intake will suck up any crap in the bottom of the tank. Its quite possible the includes particles that will get through the fuel filter and end up blocking your fuel injector nozzles.

I had this happen in my BMW when it ran out of fuel, and the cost for 6 new injectors was $995. Cleaning them would not remove the block.

So take advice from me.....ALWAYS keep extra fuel in your tank. Treat 1/4 full as being empty. Dont go below that unless you absolutely have to. And never run so low that you are gambling on it running out. Once you get your 80km warning about fuel low, fill up right away or at least add more fuel. Its not worth the risk running it lower.
