If ALL things remain constant you simply cant make more power with less manifold pressure, within reason. Obviously if the compression ratio and boost are too hi, the preignition cylinder pressure will exceed the optimum for petrol.

If you compare, for example 2 psi boost to 4 psi boost and every thing else is the same, 4 psi wins.

How you make this manifold pressure is up to you. "They" rekon that from the factory our tubos produce close to .9 bar to over come a .4 bar pressure drop in order to get .5 bar into the manifold. The more efficient your intake tract, turbo, intercooler, plumbing, the less the pressure drop.

The only thing I can think of in regards to stress on the engine is perhaps a bigger turbo will require less exhaust manifold pressure to make the same boost as a smaller turbo...perhaps???
