Advice On Honeymoon

Featured Replies

Getting married at the end of the year and still havent decided of where to go on Honeymoon...

The options are (I am pretty sure), Koh Samui (thailand) or somewhere in Fiji.

basically looking for a week of sitting on a tropical beach , with hardly anyone around and nothing to do but to drink Cocktails...

so any suggestions from people that have been to either, or both would be appreciated.

any one been ?

One of my mates recently went on honey moon to Fiji and absolutely loved it.

The people were great, everything was cheap and they had a blast. He actually wants to move there!

He stayed in a pretty touristified area but still thought is was great and relaxing.

Congrats on the marriage thingy too :spoton:

Thanks Lumpy...

that's cool, that's what I thought Fiji was like and then I have heard a few people start talking about Thailand, so now I am intrigued...

I guess the more I find out about both places, the more an educated decision can be made.

Fiji is great if you stay more in the resort areas suva the capital is a dirty hole of a place.

We spent a week in fiji last year stayed at world mark denaru island resort which is a 20 minute taxi ride from nadi airport which is there main airport when you come from australia.

The resort area is spectaculor and as lumpy said the people are great.

Also the southern cost line between nadi and suva is orsome.

and the food is laid on big time.

I've been to thailand twice now and love the place, the resorts are awesome and everything is really cheap. It does get a little feral out on the street with hawkers etc but nothing like Bali :gooff: anyway, I'm sure you wont venture out on your honey moon anyway :pinch:

I can't really comment of Fiji as I have not been yet, but the girl is keen to go there so might head over soon!! :smilielol:

Haven't been to Koh Samui, but from what I have heard there will be plenty of people around rather than the hardly anyone you are after. Its relatively expensive for Thailand, but still cheap as compared to most places (Fiji especially).

Have you considered Koh Samet? Its a 3.5 hour bus + 1 hour boat ride from Bangkok. Very popular with the Thais. Once you get away from the wharf type area, it is usually very quiet, and its very pretty. I'll post some pics later, when I get home.

Koh Samet

I was there for 4 days/nights, and didn't spend more than about $200 (food, lots of alcohol, travel there and back from Bangkok, and accommodation).

If you want to get away from it all I would suggest Rarotonga.

That was fantastic.

Choose the small non-children friendly resorts.

It is quiet, beautiful, great weather, nice food and drink - reasonable prices, and bugger all shopping!

Just keep away from the feral sh*t hole cities at both places and you wont have a drama :spoton:
