Ok, I know tyres have been done to death, but I haven't really found any answers using the search function. I know a lot of you guys use various different tyres, but I guess what I need is best bang for buck in the quotes I've got so far. I'm still doing my homework on tyres, so I haven't yet made any decisions.

Went to a few different places, and got some rough quotes on tyres, both for my 19s and 17s.

Anyways, stand out quote was $300 per tyre for toyos (235/35/R19.. not sure what type). So we'll scrap that for now. If they're the proxes R1 or whatever, then I think this has to be the winner, but I gotta find out for sure.. I was sorta in a rush.

For the 19s, dunlop sports maxx seem to be the go so far, quoted $380. Has anyone had experience with these tyres??

Michelin PP2 quoted $496, but he also said that if they come from the chinese factory and not the euro ones, that the quality is not as good??? what the? can any one confirm this for me? said I'd be looking at 50k, rather then 70k in terms of wear.

Yokohama V103 quoted at $492.

Also, my current tyres are 235/35/R19.. the quoted tyres are all 245/35/R19. Will this difference have an effect? the car is lowered, and the last thing I want is for the wheels to scrape the guards etc.

I just need something with better grip then the nankangs. The nankangs were ok with a standard car, but with the mods, they just struggle to get the power to the ground.

Any advice would be great guys :spoton:

too true mate, but I'd rather fork out for the good stuff.. I never thought like that before, always thought cheap rubber was ok.. and it is, until you start wanting to get the power to the ground!!

the dunlop sports maxx seem ok for that price, I wonder how many people have used them?? and tried them? wheres our tyre man cro when ya need him :censored:

I really want to keep the 19s, but fark me its costly to get good rubber. In comparison, I can get yokohama V103s for $329 in my 17s... might be best to sell the 19s and put good quality rubber on the 17s..

thoughts and opinions guys??

I'm also looking for some rubber, I dont want to spend too much and only need 2 rear as they have gone, I have been looking at BFGoodRich and maybe even getting the factory dunlops, my budget is $200 per tyre

I would steer clear of fitting a 235/35R19 as there are no tyres I know of in this size that meet the minimum load rating of 92 required on a Falcon. Definitely go for 245/35R19 as the 235's will be an illegal fitment.

Also, for what it's worth, the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx won the tyre test in the May 2006 issue of Wheels magazine.

cheers guys.. well looks like I'll go the 245 size.

I really wanna keep my 19s, so for $380 perhaps I'll give the dunlops a try. If I get 17s, I'd go the yokohama v103s.

Has anyone got any direct experience with the dunlops?? I know gogo highly recommends the yokos, but at that price.. I dunno!

In my opinion stay away from the Hankook K104's. They're a long lasting tyre, but no good for traction. My XR6T with 330rwkw would easily light the 275/30/19's in 2nd and 3rd gear.

M6XR6T, that's the problem I have now in first and second when rolling.. and I don't even have 300rwkw yet!

I'll more then likely try those dunlop sport maxx, unless some one has any negative feedback to sway me towards something else?? if I was buying 17s, I'd prob try the yokohamas.

Are the toyo proxes TR1 or whatever any good?? if I can pick these up for $300 then I might go them.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the dunlops scored 2nd, and the toyos 4th.. but I'm sure they'd consider bang for buck, and not just outright performance??
