They are a b**ch to remove and cannot be done easily without significant damage to the knob.

A Stilsen or Vice grips are about the only way you can remove it as it is thread glued to the gearstick.

Lots of sweat and tears will remove it.

Just enter your car in a Car Show and let the little human cockroaches crawl all over it. They will have it whipped of in 30 seconds flat!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Don't know about the gear knob itself but you can remove the leather boot just by sweat... (Do some fast driving on a hot day with A/C turned off, infact put the heater on full with the windows wound up just to be safe) :censored:

Well that's what happened on my car... :crybaby:

He mate,

If your keen on doing it, but doing it and stuffing anything up for later, in an hour or so I'll post a how-to guide from the Ford Falcon Workshop Manual.

I just removed the gearknob to replace it with a gorgeous Isotta variant. Feels so ergonomical and comfortable when in your hands.

Keep you posted.

Darren

Vice grips will get the knob off, just heave with all your might and wait till you hear the "crunch" sound. Just protect the shaft with a tea towel or something to ensure mimimal damage to the stock gear knob.

Had to remove the stocko knob in the Series 1 T5 ute to install a 2nd hand MOMO I won off EBAY.
