My last two cars included an R33 Skyline GTR and TT soarer. I now have a child and these types of cars are not practical. I have looked at the 06 STi and the Mazda Rx8. I have driven both of them and they are both exceptional in different ways. I have'nt driven the f6 and hopefully will shortly. What are your experiences ( please be honest) in performance compared to other cars such as the STi, GTR, Rx8 and any other worthwhile car (in standard form if possible)? What bugs you about the car? Does it handle like a boat? Now that you own one, if had the choice would you buy it over again? Any build quality issues? Thanks for the replies in advance. Im really having a hard time convincing myself in buying a ford. Never have before and have always gone japanese. But there are many things that are appealing about the f6.cheers Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22144-how-good-really-is-the-f6/ Share on other sites

I have had more "niggles" with this car than, I have in previous new jappas, but the size and power delivery suited my needs and the problems have been sorted. The Typhoon is just a nice step up into a more exclusive club While I have not driven the BF F6, I still bought one after driving the 6sp auto xr6t. This will be my first auto in 5 cars, but the new auto is beyond any auto I had ever driven, and I was not going to get diff clunk again with a manual. The BF F6 and with the big brakes, you will have the ULTIMATE street car. Luxury with usable street performance and handling, 12 sec taxi. While the car is a beast of a whale in comparison on my turbo GSR Lancer, it is heaps safer and the rear end grip in corners is very good for a big car. I looked at all the cars you mentioned and more (M5, EVO9 &HSV) and the F6 had it over all of them as a complete value package.I also hope it will hold its value better than my XR6T Edited 27/12/05 03:31 AM by AdamXR6T Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22144-how-good-really-is-the-f6/#findComment-327650 Share on other sites

The car is designed to be a useable car every day, but to turn into something else when you get the opportunity to use the power available. In all honesty, the car has few niggles - you'll see very blunt comments about problems on this site, and poor front spoiler paint or an alarm fault is about the worst you have to fear in an unmodified car.The car, whilst lighter than a V8, is still big, and isn't pin point accurate like a Porsche, or a top spec BMW. What it is, is a good, strong, safe car that is seriously swift - that you can take the family, and all the related kit out in - and if you happen to be out on your own, you can have a great time. For you, I'd suggest that it will do both jobs - family and driving enthusiast - without compromising either, and there aren't many that can touch that.Hope this helps, enjoy whatever you do buy! I'm leaning towards another Turbo Falcon at the very least and possibly a Typhoon if I can somehow justify the extra expense.I test drove a BF Typhoon (Auto) last week and let me tell you it's one hell of a nice car. If money was not an option the decision would be easy.It felt as though it had about 10% more power than the BF XR6T which is only just noticable but the torque is what really impresses. It was very well balanced through my local test track of sweeping bends at 100-120kph. The auto 'box is sensational, it's easy to see why the motoring writers are so impressed with it.The dealer gave me a lease figure of $1050pcm as opposed to $850 for the 'T' that makes it affordable it's just the running costs, tyres, extra insurance and resale that has me hesitating.I'd like to know what sort of resale value BA Typhoons are being offered upon trade-in on a new one. Has anybody had an experience yet, I need to know before making my final decision.Any comments would be appreciated.CheersBig ALPS Sorry if I hijacked your thread Rohan. Very informative and reassuring that its been compared to high performance euro'sRob and others, Have you found the 6spd man to suite the car and has anyone else opted for the auto over the manual.cheers. Rob (F6) Member 90 Member For: 19y 6m 26d Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 24/12/05 01:59 PM Share Posted 24/12/05 01:59 PM Personal preference again - I enjoy using a manual gearbox as part of the pleasure of driving..The BMW was tiptronic, all the 5.3 / 6.0 Jags were converted to manual, the ACE the already manual, so I've tried cars as autos, and then replaced them manual 'boxes. Having said that, I haven't tried the new auto and those that have, seem to rate it very highly (and unless you've tried it, I don't think you're qualified to criticise it).The Ford manual is excellent, and to me, one of the better features of the car - it's strong, precise and a reasonably short throw. The gears were a bit notchy to start with, but are improving steadily, and it just means that you have to be reasonably accurate when changing quickly.Finally. if you put 98 in, you can cruise in top at anything over 75, which helps the efficiency!
