I had the opposite problem, gauge showing 1/8 full when the car ran out of fuel

New fuel sender fitted by Ford under warranty, all good since then.

Mine is on a 1/4 of a tank and shows 40 ks to empty and starts flashing at 80 I let it go down to just on empty with no ks left and I still only get between 55 and 60 ltrs.

This was my answer to Ford:

Thank you for contacting NZ Info Line regarding your Distance To Empty indicator.

We would like to assure you that this is not a faulty display, therefore is not in need of being fixed. We understand your frustration when there is still a good amount of fuel left in your BA XR6 after the fuel warning light comes on. As you are aware this is indeed different to the AU Falcon, there has been a change in the strategy used in the BA "DTE". Meaning there is more fuel left in the BA as opposed to the AU allowing you to drive further until you need to fill you vehicle.

I hope this answers your question, and puts your mind at ease a little.

Thank you for your time.
