Had slotted cross drilled on my XH,

two set's they both cracked around the cross drilling,

a mate who has Euro brand cross drilled on his Mondeo said that they are not spose to be drilled all the way through or it creates a hot spot,

his Mondeo ones are "spotted" about 3mm or so deep.

is it worth it taking back to ford or just buying \ upgrading the rotors?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Happened to me the same day I picked up my '03 xr8 ute, only at about 180km/h though ! The discs had visible blue hot spots on them .

It was due for a 75k service when I bought it, and Ford fitted new discs and pads under warranty, along with new front tyres (sidewall splits apparently) , not to mention a new pair of cylinder heads due to rough running .

No problems with the brakes so far, so it's worth trying .

I would hate to own one of these things out of warranty though.

cheers

Well the engine felt a little bit flat , and it was using around 20l/100.

At the service they "hinted" it might be running rough and "running on 7".

It really didn't seem that bad , but I booked it in, and they said it failed a leakdown test and low compression on a few cylinders .

They tried to de-carboning fuel , and Ford finally agreed to fitting new heads .

The engine had to be dropped and this took around 3 weeks .

The result ? , fuel is around 17-18/100 , power seems OK but it still feels a bit

rough . And they stuffed up the steering when the engine was out .

There are a few on Fordforums.au with similar problems .

cheers
