Was reading a number of threads re tyres splitting on the side wall so I thought id go have a quick look at mine. All but 1 appeared ok. I noticed that one of the tyres has a nylon type "thing" comming out the side of it. Is this what they are refering to as splitting side walls.

As I went through a few other threads I also came across one about tyres splitting over the tread. I discovered that two of my tyres had this. I would like to know for once and for all if this is a warranty issue with Dunlop. If they decide to replace them will I have to pay an amount due to ware??

Other than that she just recently turned over the 20k mark and still makes me smile as I smash a WRP20 wrx (Controled conditions in straight line)

I have heard stories about this problem. And Yes the Dunlop SP Sport 3000 does have a problem with the inside side wall cracking in some cases (but only on the inside wall). The only real way of telling wether you got a problem is by getting under the car and have a look. If they are starting or show signs of starting take them back!

A bloke up here (Rockhampton) has had the same issue with same tyres, and the story was that if the tyre has still got a road worthy amount of tread on them, they have to replace them.
