Have any of you installed an engine oil cooler on your cars?

I am thinking of doing some towing (manual car) and thought that it might be a good idea to keep the oil cool to help with the life of the Turbo.

The F6 Typhoons have coolers dont they? Anyone have part numbers and prices for the parts, or alternatives that are an easy fit?

I bought one off Ian, (Goldie) it mounts up the back + runs Oil through braided lines, also has a thermo controlled fan so it's not running all the time. I like his design because it keeps the front free for the radiator intercooler etc (it's already crowded) and the T is borderline for cooling capacity, as anyone who has had a track day will tell you!

I'd recommend one of Goldies....err..there's a thread here somewhere, can't find it....

Thanks Sixfan - any ruff estimate of the cost?  How big is the cooler?

here tis!

read this thread, it impressed me so I bought one, get in touch with Goldie and ask him for a price, it was a looong time ago that I got mine, comes well packed and with everything you need to fit.

I am picking the cost is pretty high , though a great idea - braided hoses for the length of the car. I have this in a dry sump system for my Cobra, and the replacement cost of the lines was horrendous.

I will have a look for a forward mounting area I think.

Nope, it wasn't cheap. I went with the braided lines but Goldie will do up plain line set if you want. I really could not find anywhere else to mount the cooler, Harasan suggested removing the foglights and mounting in there, a good Idea, but not quite stock lokking.... After a track day, the T would cook by the start of the third lap and where I live it gets pretty hot. I would suggest not mounting infront of the IC or radiator.....Anyways keep us informed of how you go with it, id be interested to know.

The F6 oil cooler is readily available, the actual unit lists for $126.00, but you will also need to purchase new water lines, as the F6 jobbie is water cooled.

You will also need to purchase a new oil filter, as the ol AFL1 will no longer fit!

I will be getting HPF to fit a F6 oil cooler to my XR6 in early September. :spoton:

F'n ell, that's cheap sounds like a good solution...does one need the VIN?

Im not getting involved with that, I have been slammed too many times for saying one thing, and a member goes to a dealership and they are told something else. Then I am made look like a d1ckhead. No thanks. :tease:
