Seeing as I couldn't afford to go on the Coffs Cruise I thought I might make good use of my fuel card and go on a low budget road trip.

I set of from Canberra and headed down to Bega & Tathra, then north to Batemans Bay late on Friday night. Thanks Jeff for letting me stay over!!

Had to get new rear tyres so I headed off to Bob Jane in Nowra to get the pre-ordered tyres chucked on. Co-incidently the date happened to be 19th June (same date I got run off the road last year) and the bloke that saved my life is the Manager of Bob Jane Nowra.

After tyres headed down for Lunch in Ulladulla with a big poof. I won't mention any names will I Saleen :spoton:

Shot down to Bermagui and Tathra again for some fun twisties, over to Pambula via Merimbula then over to Bombala via some awesome twisty roads.

Thank God for the driving lights, saved me from 1 x wallaby, 2 x roo, 3 x fox but unluckily two rabbits didn't make it. I must of hurt one of the roo's too, it's tail whacked my front bumper (no marks though).

Headed up to Cooma and home.

Total two days driving = 1092km's.

Today (well yesterday, Sunday) I headed down to Melbourne to get a rim of Dagabond to replace my last flat spotted one (I hope it's the last anyway). I am NEVER EVER EVER driving to Melbourne for the hell of it again. Albury - Melbourne = 3 hours of total boredom @ 110km/h. All those Fatigue related signs really gave me the sh*ts. If the limits were a bit higher or the government werent such Nazi's maybe there wouldn't be as many fatigue related crashes....

Anyway, it rained 3/4 of the way down, some places pretty heavily. As I was getting out of Dagabonds driveway I saw a Ferrari 360, thought to myself what a rich *beep*. Then I saw another one and another one and another one...what are the odds. I ended up following them back into Melb. I've never heard a Ferrari scream, and till today I wasn't a fan. Damn do they sound good.

Anyway headed back up the booooooring long drive to Albury, dreaming about when I get to NSW how I can sit on 115 & 125 comfortably. Damn heavy rain kept me at the speed limit most of the way home till I got to Tarcutta and again near Yass when visibility was so crap because of the massivly heavy rain I was reduced to about 80.

For those that went up to indy last year through Coffs, it was just as bad as that.

Got home not long ago, 16 hours and 1400kms (most I've ever driven in a day) later putting me up to a total of 49,300kms on the ODO in 10 months.

Cost of the weekend = $100 (not inc fuel obviously)

6 x fuses for spotties

Not a bad effort I reckon.

Anyway off to bed. Need to take car in for gearbox removal, clutch related (I have NFI) early in the morning.

Got me stuffed how you attract so much wildlife though :spoton:

Last time I drove down to Melbourne I went for a great drive, although a bit slower if are going to Melbourne city, but quicker if you are going out to the Eastern suburbs.

From Albury down the Hume just past Benalla turn onto the Midland Hwy down towards Mansfield, then onto the Maroondah Hwy around to Alexandra, then down to Healesville.

It's a great drive through the countyside, and far better than the Hume.

Other way is to turn off at Seymour, and go down through Yea, down the Melba Hwy.

Last time I drove down for my honeymoon I went through Seymour then over to the Maroondah Hwy. I was staying at Taggerty, and know the road you are talking about. My favourite part was the 8kms before Healesville. I wish I had something more than a 1.6 Auto Pulsar at the time :)

Last time I was down that way I went from Benalla to Whitfield and then to Mansfield. The Whitfield to Mansfield road was one of the best bits of road I have ever driven. About 50km of winding road up over the mountains. Absolutely fantastic! :crybaby:
