I have an installer looking into it now. He believes that he will be able to design a locking mechanism that will act with the normal central locking for the BA ute hardtop. He also believes that he can design a manual overide.

Let me know if you are interested and ill get a price of him as I know hes keen to do a few if he spends the time researching it.

This is in Victoria

Also post if you have any ideas of how much you would pay for such a beast.

mm, I was looking at it.

The only downside I can see is sometimes the lid doesn't sit square, and u have to press down on a corner to get the locks to shut. That and I have my lid under a 'tight' lock, not sloppy fit.

Otherwise, yeah, maybe a sedan remote would be a good idea, use the boot release button..

I think the best way would be to get the boot mechanism from the sedan with the button in the cabin and a button on your key ring and have it functioning the same. So you can unlock it from inside or from your key ring. I guess you would have arms from the mechanism to move away from the brackets when activated. Or you could possibly run it like a car boot and modify the latch to sit on the tail gate and the lock on the hardcover so it works just like a car boot and no more sh*tty brackets. But then the latch may affect loading the tray, but who cares if you have a hardcover you wouldnt load much anyways...I might look into this abit more.....
